What Is a Grid Bot?

A grid bot automates the classic buy low, sell high strategy by placing a series of limit orders at regular price intervals across a defined range. When price oscillates within the range, the bot captures profit on each completed buy-sell cycle — no manual intervention required.

Bot Types

Available Bot Types

Grid Bot

Place buy and sell orders across a price range. Profits from sideways and ranging markets by capturing spread at each grid level.

DCA Bot

Dollar-cost average into positions with configurable safety orders. Automatically adds to positions as price moves against you, lowering your average entry.

Signal Bot

Execute trades based on your visual pipeline strategies. Connect any strategy you build in the Strategy Builder and let the bot follow its signals automatically.

Rebalance Bot

Maintain target portfolio allocations across multiple assets. Automatically rebalances when allocations drift beyond your configured thresholds.

Grid Bot Configuration

Setting Up a Grid Bot

1

Select Bot Type

Choose "Grid" from the bot type selector in the top toolbar.

2

Choose Exchange & Pair

Select your exchange and trading pair (e.g., BTC/USDT on Binance). A live chart preview updates as you configure.

3

Set Price Range

Define the upper and lower price boundaries for your grid. Orders will be distributed evenly across this range.

4

Configure Grid Levels

Choose the number of grid levels (e.g., 10-50). More levels mean smaller profit per trade but more frequent executions.

5

Set Investment Amount

Enter the total capital to allocate. The bot distributes this across all grid levels.

6

Choose Grid Mode

Select **Arithmetic** (equal price spacing) or **Geometric** (equal percentage spacing) based on your market view.

7

Launch in Paper Mode

Click Create to start your bot in paper trading mode with simulated funds.

Advanced Features

The grid automatically shifts its price range as the market moves, following the trend instead of staying static:

  • Shift Up: When price breaks above the upper boundary, the entire grid shifts upward
  • Shift Down: When price drops below the lower boundary, the grid shifts or expands downward
  • Configurable shift steps, cooldown period, and maximum number of shifts
  • Choose between shift mode (move the range) and expand mode (widen the range)

AI-Powered Parameter Suggestions

Not sure how to configure your grid? Vantixs offers AI-powered parameter suggestions that analyze current market conditions and recommend optimal settings:

  • Suggested price range based on recent volatility and support/resistance levels
  • Recommended number of grid levels for the selected trading pair
  • Investment amount guidance based on your account balance
  • Grid mode recommendation (arithmetic vs. geometric) based on price distribution
Pro Tip

AI suggestions are a starting point, not financial advice. Always review and adjust parameters based on your own risk tolerance and market analysis.

Batch Order Placement

Grid bots use batch order support for initial grid placement, submitting all grid-level orders in a single optimized batch rather than one-by-one. This reduces setup time and minimizes the chance of partial fills during volatile markets.

Bot Templates

Get started quickly with pre-configured bot templates:

Conservative Range

Tight grid with many levels for low-volatility pairs. Designed for steady, frequent small profits.

Trend Follower

Trailing grid that shifts with the trend. Best for pairs showing clear directional movement.

Volatility Catcher

Wide range with fewer levels for high-volatility assets. Captures larger swings with bigger profit per trade.

Performance Monitoring

Track your bot's performance in real-time with detailed metrics:

  • Total profit/loss and ROI percentage
  • Number of completed grid cycles
  • Average profit per cycle
  • Current grid utilization (how many levels have active orders)
  • Equity curve visualization over time

Paper Trading Mode

All bot types support paper trading mode for risk-free testing:

  • Simulated order execution with realistic fill modeling
  • Track performance with the same metrics as live trading
  • Test different configurations without risking capital
  • Switch between paper and live mode when live trading becomes available
Caution

During the BETA period, only paper trading mode is available. All bots execute with simulated funds. Live trading support will be enabled in a future release.
