Why Connect an Exchange During Beta?
During the beta period, your exchange connection enables:
- Real market data: Paper trading uses live prices and orderbook depth from your connected exchange
- Realistic simulation: Order fills are simulated against actual market conditions
- Seamless transition: When live trading launches post-beta, your connection is already configured
- No funds at risk: Paper trading uses virtual capital only — your real balance is never touched
You do NOT need to deposit funds on your exchange to use paper trading. A valid API key with read/trade permissions is sufficient.
API Key Security
Your security is our top priority
Your API keys are protected with:
Encrypted at Rest
AES-256 encryption for all stored credentials — keys are never stored in plaintext
Secure Transmission
All API communication over HTTPS/TLS only
Scoped Permissions
Trade-only access required — **never enable withdrawal permissions**
IP Whitelisting
Optional restriction to specific IP addresses on your exchange
We recommend:
- Enable IP whitelisting on your exchange for the API key
- Use trade-only permissions (disable withdrawal — Vantixs never needs it)
- Create a dedicated API key for Vantixs only
- Never share or expose your API secret
- Rotate API keys periodically (e.g., every 90 days)

Troubleshooting
Common causes and fixes:
- Check for copy/paste errors (extra spaces or trailing characters)
- Verify the key hasn't expired on your exchange
- Confirm you're using the correct key type (mainnet vs testnet)
- Some exchanges require email verification after creating keys
During BETA, all exchange connections are for paper trading only. Your real funds are never accessed or traded. Live trading with real capital will be enabled in a future release.
